The author begins by reciting the historical development of the industry, and how advertising geared towards children was a major component of its triumphant establishment. Issues such as current labor practices and violations, anti-union strategies, mass-industrialization, lack of governmental regulation, chemical flavoring of food, and the international spread of fast food corporations are also presented as major focuses.
