Will & Grace

Founded by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, Will & Grace is a sitcom of America. The friendship amongst a straight interior designer – Grace Adler and a gay lawyer – Will Truman. The role of Grace is played by Debra Messing, and the role of Will Truman is played by Eric McCormack. In 1988 on 21st September, the show got broadcasted on NBC. It was based on 8 seasons. In 2017, it was heard that the series is coming back on the TV. Moreover, with gay principal characters, Will & Grace was one of the most successful television series of that time in comparison to other shows. This persuasive essay will critically reflect upon why Will & Grace was revolutionary in comparison to other shows during that time by using pathos, ethos, and logos.

The ethical appeal is the method of convincing the audience about the character or credibility is referred to an ethos. Whereas, the emotional appeal is the method of persuading the audience by appealing to their emotions is referred to as pathos. In addition, the method convincing the audience by using reason or logic is referred to as logos. Will & Grace informed the audience about the critical existence of LGBTQ history. In comparison to other TV series of that time in 1988 who represented barely about the gay characters. Will & Grace critically reflected the realities of genders. The TV series also showed Karen represented by Megan Mullally whom less care about the gender of the individuals she used to have her sexual relations with. One of her main role in the TV series was to make weird things brag color jokes and pop pills.

In 2006, the series eventually got ended. In media, it emerged as a critical representation of LGBTQ. However, it changed slowly. However, the series has been represented both one having instant relics and revolutionary from the starting moment it got premiered. Along with this, it was credited with the consciousness of the nation toward the biggest tolerance of gay people. It showed significant support for gay marriage and abandoned the concept of stereotyping.

For the better part of the decade, the series was one of the biggest hit in comparison to other series at that time. As it drew upon half millions of views.  Moreover, it appeared as a careful tied-up and crafted sitcom package. Its characters most often reflected upon the monogamy and commitment towards relations. In addition, the TV series met continuous critical claim as it portrayed the homosexual characters. However, one of the biggest impact led by the TV series was on the issue of similar-sex marriage and its legalization throughout the United States. The TV series eventually educated the public of America about LGBT rights.

It also emerged as the newest obsession in America by representing Will, who was a man devoted to his work and Grace who was living a life that was challenged romantically. In comparison to FRIENDS the TV series of that time that reflected about the lesbians, Will & Grace only focused on the community of LGBTQ in the United States. Moreover, for high school students, gay stereotypes were broken down by Dawson Greek. In addition, Will & Grace was different in comparison to other TV series of that time because it represented the issues from different angles of normalcy and acceptance.
