In psychology, psychologists make use of a number of tests to decipher how a person functions and why he behaves the way he does. There are tests which have been devised to understand a person’s cognition and how his/her brain functions, the most popular test being the Rorschach test also known as the inkblot test.

The Rorschach test is an exam in which individuals are asked to view a series of pictures made out of inkblots. They are then asked to discuss how they have perceived the image. Every person will perceive images in different ways. This test was first developed in 1921 by Hermann Rorschach. The test is still in its original form however there are certain aspects of it which have been refined compared to the way they were before.

The Rorschach test is very helpful to psychologists in determining different personality traits which exist within different individuals. The test contains 10 inkblots on a piece of white paper. F of these are made using black ink, two are made using black and red ink together and the rest of the 3 are made with various colors. The subject being tested is shown all 10 of these inkblots and then is asked what he/she sees. They then explain why they have said what they see and why the image looks such. The evaluation of the test is very much based on how the subject explains what he/she has seen and the way in which the subject thinks and how his/her thought process works.
