Rococo and Neoclassical were two art forms prevalent in the 18th century. The Rococo period matched approximately to the time in power (1715-1774) of Louis XV of France. The word rococo was derived from the French rocaille, “rock-work”. (Art History) Rococo was a reaction against the French baroque school of art which was very strict in its requirements. According to this royal academy, they judged what good art was and what was not. On the other hand, Neoclassical (1770-1830) was a reaction against rococo and the frivolity of the art.
