American Public Transportation Association is a non-profit organization which encourages public transportation system in the US and awards each year the best public transportation system award or the America’s Best Transit System award. The award is given in different categories and there are different systems who get the awards depending on their performance. This paper will discuss the smallest and the largest public transportation system.
Beaver County Transit Authority was chosen as the best smallest transportation organization in North America. It provides transportation to less than a million people annually. Within three years BCTA changed from a 20 person organizational concern to an independent organization of approximately 100 employees. Even with the decrease in the population of the county and an increase in the fares, there has been an increase in January 2005, there was an increase of BCTA’s fixed-route passengers in Fiscal Year 2004-2005.
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Provides more than 30 million annual passenger trips. About 10 million people rely on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority buses and trains. In the beginning of 2006, client approval and travel increased to the maximum and there and the level of complaints was very low. Metro Orange Line’s, first-year traveling is the level which was projected for 2020.
