This book, while it focuses on an era sufficiently distant from our own in time (the period from 1763 to 1850) that we might well think that there are few connections between Canadian business today and the rise and fall of a mercantile empire of the 18th and 19th centuries, helps to illuminate many of the dynamics of today’s economic structure.
