This term paper defines child abuse and analyzes the impact of child abuse on children. It discusses when child abuse often starts and how it affects a child mentally and socially. Child abuse refers to deliberate neglect or harm caused by an adult to a child. Child abuse can be physical, emotional, sexual or verbal (Jaffe, 1986). Child abuse is a common problem and happens in all cultures and societies. These issues are extremely serious as they can affect a child’s psyche in the long run and at times can even result in death if not prevented or intervened. There is no certain limit to child abuse as it can happen in family or school.
