Basically there are two main types of diabetes mellitus. Type I (insulin dependent diabetes) and type II (insulin non dependent diabetes). Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disorder in which insulin producing beta cells of pancreas are broken. The pancreas then produces less or no insulin. Type II is the most common type of diabetes caused when body sells become resistant to insulin. In 2010, almost 2.8 million people from UK were affected by diabetes (Amos AF at el, 2010)
