This is even perfected at 12 to 18 months (Ford, 1993, p. 894). Crying related to infancy almost gone and children can be able to speak and make their demands heard.

This is the time babies are suckling milk from their mother’s breast. It is at this time when a mother’s breast may be producing much more milk than any other time (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2005, p. 496). Therefore, the milk might in one way or the other chock the baby if it is not able to swallow the milk in large quantities as it is released from the mother. As soon as milk ejection reflux is triggered, these mothers produce excessive milk, which becomes more of a bad thing to their babies. This is called overactive letdown reflux. Chocking is obviously imminent as the baby cannot off take the whole load of milk. The baby is therefore forced to cry from chocking, a sign that many mothers associate to their babies’ satisfaction.
Another condition called gastro-esophageal reflux (GER) is a common cause of baby cry during breast-feeding (Neifert, 2009, p. 67). A circular muscle separates the stomach and the esophagus, and it is not yet fully mature in infants. As the baby breastfeeds, stomach contents may end up into the esophagus making the baby throw up. This condition occurs mostly at the final stages of breast-feeding or just after (69).

Long (2004, p. 103), reveals that about 20 percent of babies do cry at this age to an extent that their cry can be described as colic. Colic episodes usually begin at almost the same time of the day with most infants crying more in the evenings. This may last for minutes or hours. The baby may or may not stop crying when they pass stool or gas (Barker, 2009, p. 57). Alternatively, the baby may stop crying when they get exhausted and sleep. This condition is care fully detected by first considering other medical problems such as intussusceptions, hernia, or hair tourniquet. A hair in the eye is also another possible cause that needs to be eliminated. Eliminating all possible cause of the condition is the best start point for intervening the problem.

Babies at this age of 0-1 months are the most notorious in crying. According to Christakis and Garrison (2000, p. 188), this is associated with the fact that they are always hungry. New parents suffer this problem most since they cannot establish feeding time immediately they give birth. Crying is the only available way for these babies to communicate and therefore constant crying is more common. Infants below the age of one-month show increased crying patterns from birth for up to six weeks, which is the followed by a gradual decrease until the baby is four months These infants cry more during the day with late afternoon and evenings registering more crying than any other time of the day.
Most parents have found themselves seeking pediatrician assistance for this problem because of fears that their babies might be suffering another serious problem. However, this is not the case as most of this crying is associated with it being the only way to communicate. Babies at this age loose their sleep mostly at night (Hauck et al. 2003, p. 1213). This is manifested by the babies crying as an effort to express their anger from boredom around its environment. We can therefore say that babies at this age cry much and pediatric advice is necessary to reduce crying.
